Town of Windsor
Windsor Fire Protection District Fire Station No. 2

This new 7,457 s.f. fire station includes two drive-through apparatus bays, offices, living quarters, a fitness room, and a public lobby. The station is located in a redevelopment area of the town, adjacent to the Town’s new corporation yard and across the street from a 2,500 student high school. Site access and response direction were a key site planning consideration.
The project is designed to meet LEED-Silver requirements although was recently awarded a Gold (within budget) Certification. Sustainable elements include the use of non-potable water for toilets, high-efficiently conditioning units, heavily insulated building shell and a photovoltaic system to provide supplemental electrical power for the station.
